The LECP is made up of 10 Local Authorities, brought together to implement governments Connexions strategy. Resources will be made available to Local Management Groups (made up of representatives from a variety of Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge Borough representatives) to commission relevant projects in their area in line with the Partnerships objectives and agreed priorities. These objectives include engaging young people as part of the development and application of the new service, and working to extend opportunities for raising participation.
To facilitate the involvement of young people in the LECP, the London East Connexions Partnership Youth Board has been established, which comprises young people drawn from across the partnership area. Structures are in place to ensure that young people on the Board are able to access and influence key decisions within the forum.
The Voluntary and Community Sector providers will be engaged in the following ways:
- Direct contracts with the partnership to deliver specialist services
- Contracts with the partnership via the Local Management Groups to deliver specialist services in their area
- Grants through the LMGs for small informal groups and directly from the partnership for cross Borough activities
A Partnership wide voluntary and community sector forum is in the process of being setting up, ensuring an independent voice for the sector within the Partnership structure. The total budget for the Barking and Dagenham is just over £1.5m. |
