The Thames Gateway London Partnership is a sub-regional alliance of thirteen local authorities, London East Learning and Skills Council, the universities of East London and Greenwich and the LDA working closely together with the private sector and local communities to deliver the economic, physical and social regeneration of the Thames Gateway in London. The Boroughs Regeneration Strategy aims to incorporate the main emphasis of the TGLPs Economic Development Strategy. As part of this, the Heart of the Thames Gateway is a seven-year regeneration plan to improve the manufacturing, training and employment opportunities around Ford´s at Dagenham. The HOTG is funded by the Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) Challenge Fund to the tune of £22million with £444m of private sector funding.
The programme, initiated by the Thames Gateway London Partnerships with Ford and English Partnerships, will develop the future of the manufacturing sector in the Thames Gateway, and shape its contribution to economic and social regeneration in the 21st century. It addresses the issues of skills mismatch, environmental degradation and the lack of employment opportunities in the area. The local community also has a stake in the project and partner organisations work to ensure that the local community is fully involved and extensively consulted.
The London Thames Gateway Forum provides a link between the many regeneration agencies and the community and voluntary sector. It represents members´ views at strategic level bodies such as the Greater London Authority, London Development Agency, Environment Agency, Thames Gateway London Partnership, Heart of the Thames Gateway Partnership, Lea Valley Regional Park Authority, and the 10 Thames Gateway London boroughs. The Forum works to protect and enhance the economic, social, natural and built environment to improve the qulaity of life for people who live and work in the sub-region.
