A wide ranging consultation programme with community groups in 2000, lead to the development of the Barking and Dagenham´s seven Community Priorities. From these priorities, a 20-year vision was developed through a Policy Commission and a Vision Conference. The Barking and Dagenham 2020 Vision has provided a framework within which Community Strategy has been developed. The Strategy is an action plan for delivering specific targets for each community priority.
The Barking and Dagenham Partnership will review progress against the action plan on a regular basis, and has developed key indicators that will help measure the social, environmental and economic progress of the Borough:
- Percentage of residents with a positive perception of the Borough
- Percentage of residents with a positive perception of the overall appearance of the Borough
- Average income of Barking and Dagenham residents
