The new Arts Strategy dedicates the Council´s commitment to arts in the Borough. Building on the solid foundations and growing arts reputation it has already achieved and securing increased access to arts provision for all residents in Barking & Dagenham. A key priority is to increase participation in the arts in ways to encourage and include the whole community and the Council will be establishing an Arts Forum to kickstart this work.
The ten strategic objectives are:
- Improving access: the range and quality of provisions
- Increasing participation
- Celebrating cultural diversity
- Raising aspirations and standards
- Raising the profile and reputation of the arts
- Increasing opportunities for artists
- Developing partnerships
- Supporting regeneration and social inclusion
- Increasing resourcess
- Supporting Council and Community Priorities
Much has been achieved in the Borough with regards to arts over the last decade and some valuable partnerships have been formed with organisations such as Studio 3 Arts, ARC Theatre Ensemble, East London Dance and Chain Reaction Theatre Company, who have all been working with schools, community groups and individuals.
